How many of you change the oil in your car?
One of my patients is an auto mechanic. I asked him if it was really necessary to change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. He said “Absolutely! It’s the best thing you can do for your car. If you don’t change the oil, it turns to sludge and that affects the efficiency of your car.”
Unlike our cars, our bodies don’t have a removable plug that allows us to drain and replace the blood when it gets toxic. However, our bodies have a similar filtration system. Guess what? The best thing you can do for your body is to clean that system out on a regular basis.
When your filtration system is neglected, your body becomes toxic.
Our bodies are literally built upon the foundation of what we eat and nutrition represents the backbone of our health. The right food and nutrients are always required to restore, maintain, and reach our optimal state of health.
However, in today’s society, it is very rare for us to get all of the nutrients required for us to function in a state of optimal health. With the pressures and time constraints of our lifestyles, most of us do not always prepare our own meals, and even when we do, we may not have the time to fully ensure that we are meeting our required daily allowances of vitamins and minerals each day.
The fact is we live in a toxic world. No matter how well you eat, your body accumulates impurities due to pollution, poor food and stress. Whenever your body has too many impurities, its ability to eliminate them is weakened, causing numerous health problems.
So how do you rid the body of toxins?
One great way is cleansing. When your cells are clean and replenished with nutrients, you unlock your bodies’ true potential to experience increased energy, enhanced physical and mental performance, safe weight loss and optimal health.
Cleansing can jumpstart weight loss and reduce body fat, it can help reduce allergies, eliminate headaches, decrease aches and pains, restore energy and improve immunity and the skin.
However, most people associate cleansing with fasting or using harsh herbs to clean the bowels. Or, by starving yourself or fasting on lemonade. Most of these cleanses are unpleasant, make you spend time in the bathroom, and rarely provide enough nutrients to support the body, placing stress on it or depleting the body further.
They may cleanse, but they are missing and important link: nutrition. To safely cleanse, you must replenish at the same time.
